Quality Moving Magnet and Moving Coil cartridges from Rega, Dynavector. I have never thought it rendered surface noise as non-existent. it also does an incredible job in rendering surface noise as non-existent. the 20X2L is more relaxed in its presentation. the 10X5 was a great cart because it had a lovely mid range and plenty of punch. So I always wondered if the Hana ML would, in turn, be a better Cart. ![]() It was bested by an AT33PTGII which has a Micro Line. I have spent some time with the SL and like it very much. I would get the ML instead of The SL with all the details provided. The MC offering costs £750 and can be preinstalled to either the Planar 6 (HFC 453) or Planar 8 (HFC 443) turntables, bringing their package prices up to £1,700 or £2,350 respectively.2,648. ![]() The Ania Pro cartridge is designed to bridge the gap between Rega’s £500 Ania (HFC 452) and the recently introduced Apheta 3 priced at £1,250. Maybe you can get a deal an Alpheta 2 used and see how it goes. Edit: since you have the Aria, at some point in your future an Alpheta 2 might be in order. I haven't heard the cart yet, but that is the next move from the Exact on my RP6. A lot of folks put Dynavector 20x2 on theirs. Both high and low versions of their 20X2. The 20X2L has an output of 0.3 mV ideal for most MC phono stages. The magnetic flux damping and softened magnetism along with powerful neodymium magnets gives the 20X2H a healthy 2.8 mV output – suitable for most MM inputs. The cantilever is a 6mm length of hard aluminum pipe with a Micro-Ridge stylus. With the 3D printed arm, Dynavector 20X2 or if you can stretch for XX2. Hana SL, Cadenza Bronze are likely candidates. Rogue RP7, VPI Classic Two 20X2L, Art Audio Vinyl Reference (K &K Audio), Wells Inamorata, CJ Premier 12s, Auralic Vega DAC, GR Research Sub, Wywires TWL, RoonRock. Last edited: stoutblock, #44I was thinking Hana ML or Dyna 20X2L. Both these carts I like a bit more than the ART-9 but they are a couple hundred more than $1K. The shape does make it more fussy about alignment however, and the absence of flat sides on the ML don't help in this regard. The Dynavector DV20x2 is really, really hard to beat but maybe I am just more familiar with it? I have recently been spending a lot of time with the new Hana ML and I really like this cartridge. In use and sound. The Hana ML has a micro-line tip profile and a low output, this tip shape is said to more closely match that on the cutting head of a vinyl mastering lathe and therefore should offer greater accuracy of detail retrieval. The Hana pumps out 0.5 mV (the high-output version is 2.0mV) and though still low it does mean that some MM stages - especially valve which tend to be MM only - will be able to generate enough gain. This is a Low Output Moving coil, but these typically have an output around 0.3 mV as with the Dynavector DV-20x2. The shape does make it more fussy about alignment however, and the absence of flat sides on the ML don’t help in this regard. ![]()
